Founders Fun |
Sunday, 15th February, 2009 |
How did Nelson’s citizens find out
they had achieved city status? The first Bishop of Nelson,
Edmund Hobhouse arrived by ship with the Royal Charter
signed by Queen Victoria. He arrived by steamer in Nelson
on February 18th, 1859. How will we celebrate this event?
The current Bishop of Nelson, Richard Ellena will arrive
by boat at Wakefield Quay and take a horse and buggy to
Founders Heritage Park! |

|
Everyone from the greater Nelson region
is warmly invited to join him for a Founders Fun at Founders,
from 12 noon to 4pm. There will be…
- Dramatic arrival of Bishop and entourage
- Period games
- Great summer food
- Music and entertainment
Come and join us from 12 noon at Founders Heritage
Park and celebrate our unique history.

our city addressing issues like ‘Youth’ and
‘Faith in the Community.’ It will be held
in the Cathedral with key national figures like Ian Grant,
as well as local people who are involved and committed
